The vacuum box is an imaginary box that I also imagine in the deeps of space where "...you would place anything that would interfere with your focus..."(B.C.).  Deep space is the closest to a perfect vacuum, where most things come closest to a complete STOP!   They don't totally stop, but almost.   This is a perfect place to keep persistent things that interfere with focus.
